As a dark chocolate fan who happens to be surrounded by some of the tastiest locally made cocoa treats (like Brooklyn's Mast Brother's Chocolates)--I wouldn't often put in an overseas order for German-made bars. I like chocolate but I don't need a special order of it flown over in a plane.

These hand bags are made from old tires, and they were just one of the many handicrafts for sale at the Global Exchange booth at Green Festival. Global Exchange is a favorite of ours, working to bring fair trade goods to the consumer market place, and the selection of cool items was impressive - most made from recycled materials.

I'm always an advocate for making your own ice cream, because it tastes so delicious and it gives you time to think about your guilty indulgence before you dive right in.

Okay, you won't be giving your sweetheart a Kit Kat bar for Valentine's Day, but hopefully your gift of chocolate bonbons was fair trade -- and organic.

A funny look but interesting idea: ARMO is a line of ready-to-assemble shoes meant to be transformed, customized, disassembled and flattened. Produced under fair trade practices by a group of people in need, they come inside an envelope, saving space in transportation and being extremely portable by users.
